Hi, I am Kara and I am the  brains behind NZStreetlighting.

I have a background in  senior business management and have been running my own company specialising in both energy management and LED streetlighting since 2011.  I have chosen to specialise in this industry (hence the formation of NZStreetlighting) because it is an area of both technical diversity and where my common sense approach to business is truly appreciated by my clients.  My diverse background that provides a unique approach to business accountability, strategy and  I am often told I am like a breath of fresh air  to the industry -  jeans, high heels, a good laugh, a dose of the truth and all!.

I am very logical, strategic and have a high level of integrity - I believe that everyone has their areas of expertise and working together to reach an end common goal is essential.  

​

Because I have a truly unique blend of business savvy, accountability, cost efficiencies and accountability - NZStreetlighting continues to grow and covers the entire country - from Cape Reinga to the Bluff!.

It is true what they say - who you are is a true reflection of those who are in your life.  I have  the absolute pleasure of every day working with  great people  who are passionate about their what they do and take their duties of road safety, quality workmanship and responsible  spending of public money so seriously. 

 

I work with some of this country's best lighting design brains, fab contractors and together we have project managed the installation of thousands of streetlights.

I can count on one hand the number of complaints we have had for perceived poorly installed  LEDs - and all of those complaints have had a successful resolution with outstanding consultation.   All our  projects have run on-budget and on time.  If you are having problems with your own installation? We have in-depth knowledge of AU NZS 1158 Road Lighting which forms foundation to ensure we are the best at what we do.

When I am not immersed in the world of electricity and lighting, I will \usually be found  out on our lifestyle block tending to rare breed cattle or pigs, gardening in my extensive rural garden for all things rare and interesting, hanging with my dogs, relaxing at my caravan home away from home, deep sea fishing off the West Coast. 

​

I am also the fosterer for abandoned or orphaned neonatal puppies - my dog pack and I step up when needed - caring for the very very little ones till they are ready to go and find new homes (I warn you now, you will need excuse the state of me when you see the bags under my eyes - its the night feeds and constant poo!) 

​

 My 'why' is to make the world a better place and be a very good human.
